Did you know there are levels of screen qualities and install types? Find the one that best fits your needs.
LCD VS OLED: What is the difference?
Phone screens are not all the same. The two main types are LCD and OLED.
An LCD screen uses a light behind the screen. That light shines through the picture so you can see it. LCD screens can look good, but black colors may look more like dark gray.
An OLED screen does not need a big light behind it. Each tiny dot on the screen can light up by itself. This makes colors look brighter and black colors look deeper.
Why We Do Not Recommend LCD on OLED iPhones
Some newer iPhones were made by Apple to use OLED screens.
When those phones get a cheap LCD screen, the screen is not the same. LCD screens are usually thicker. Because of that, the screen can sit higher and stand out from the frame.
That may not sound like a big deal, but it is.
When the screen sticks out more, it can get hit easier if the phone falls. This can make the screen easier to crack, lift, or break again.
An LCD screen on an OLED iPhone may also have weaker colors, gray-looking blacks, and may use more battery.
That is why we only recommend LCD for very basic needs, like trade-in, selling the phone, or getting data out.
For daily use, an OLED screen is the better choice because it is closer to how the phone was made by Apple.
Basic Install vs Full Install: What Is the Difference?
Not every screen repair is done the same way.
At our shop, we offer two types of iPhone screen installs: Basic Install and Full Install.
A Basic Install is the cheaper option. It is made for simple needs, like trading in the phone, selling it, or getting your data out.
With a Basic Install, we replace the screen, but we do not do the full cleaning and sealing process. Old adhesive may stay on the frame. Small dents on the frame may not be corrected.
Because of that, the screen may not sit as clean or tight as a Full Install. It may also be easier for dust, lifting, or future issues to happen.
A Full Install is the better option for daily use.
With a Full Install, we take more time. We remove old adhesive, clean the frame, add fresh adhesive, and check the fit. If the frame has small dents, we may file or adjust them so the screen can sit better.
This helps the phone feel closer to how it should. It also helps the screen fit better and lowers the chance of lifting or dust getting inside.
Simple way to choose:
Basic Install = best for trade-in, selling, or data recovery. Full Install = best if you plan to keep using the phone every day.
A cheaper repair may help for a short time. But if this is your main phone, a Full Install is usually the smarter choice.
